Sunday Prayer Group 6th Anniversary Gathering

"We had planned out a simple event, but the good Lord blessed it and made it a wonderful one.

The regulars at the group came early and put up chairs and decorations, arranged the place and did a dry run of game planned. A surprise was our old timer Patrick from Coimbatore coming all the way just for this program. So while we decorated the place, Patrick who agreed to take up the Adoration, prepared for it.

We began adoration at 10:15, with one or two more joining us. It was a beautiful time thanking and worshiping the Lord. Father Vinoy arrived, and after the adoration, we had a small round of introductions and warm up in the hall. A wonderful Mass followed at 11:30 with Fr Vinoy’s Homily challenging us to keep the passion of Jesus always in focus and be a truly contended, worthy catholic. More people and some sisters had joined for Mass. Crispin made sure we followed the new missal at Mass, and prepared well for it.

After mass, we had a small celebration with a cake cutting, and then a scrumptious lunch. We played a fun game and listened to a small sharing from Piyush about how a prayer group has enriched, and is still enriching him in his walk with the Lord. We officially closed after celebrating Crispin’s birthday, but many stayed back for some more time to clear the place and close for the day."

National Intercession Retreat

National Intercession Retreat was organised by Jesus Youth National Team at Satyodayam Retreat Centre, Secunderabad, from 27th to 29th January 2012. The 3 days were days of grace and Bro Thomas Paul so beautifully led the the Intercession retreat. These 3 days were days where people learnt and grew in the Wisdom and Knowledge about the Power of Intercession.

A one day gathering for the Medical Students and Doctors in Bangalore was held on the 19th of Jan 2012 at St. Thomas Forane Church. This was an initiative of Jesus Youth Doctors Network Bangalore. The gathering was attended by around 25 Medical Students and Doctors from St John’s Medical College, Bangalore Medical College and Dr Ambedkar Medical College. The gathering started at about 9.30am and concluded by 6.00pm. The sessions were handled by Vijay Sebastian and Alex Njavally. A short post lunch video session focused on giving the essence of Christian values. There was also a panel sharing coordinated by Joemon Varghese. Dr. Sudeep, Dr. Brigit, Dr. Martis, Dr. Joseph and Dr. Mary were part of the panel. The gathering concluded with preparation for adoration, followed by adoration lead by Fr Rajeev. There was Intercession before the Blessed Sacrament all throughout the gathering in a small chapel beside the hall. The guidance, support and motivation of Fr Thomas Kallukulam (Parish priest of St. Thomas Church and previous Jesus Youth Bangalore Animator) were present throughout.

During the month of December, many Jesus Youth under the initiative of Wednesday Professionals Prayer Group went carol singing to around 50 families in Bangalore. Through these house visits, they spread the word for the Outreach Child Support project. The contributions collected through this carol singing outreach has been handed over to the Outreach Child Support.

Dear All,

Just wanted to give an update of a blessed family retreat that Jesus Youth Family Ministry organised last weekend; "Passionately Yours..". It was a time of coming back home and meeting Jesus personally. All who attended the retreat were so excited about knowing their life purpose. There were around 25 families who attend the 3 days retreat (25th - 27th Nov). The resource was Elvis Kotturan & Team from Cochin. It was not easy for many to respond to the call of sparing 3 days of their busy schedule. Still 25 families decided that let whatever may happen, we will sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to him & it has changed their life. As a fruit of this retreat, 2 family prayer groups have been started one at Banswadi and other at Electronics city. Their first meeting will be on coming Saturday.

Dear all, please pray for all the families in Bangalore. We need families centered in Christ, blessed children and an anointed generation to change the face of the earth.

Christmas Message

Dear Jesus Youth Family,

One Christmas Eve when all the preparations were in full swing I received a call from one of the city hospitals. It was one of the poor villagers from our neighborhood. His daughter was about to undergo an emergency surgery the next day early morning and she was desperately in need of blood and was searching for a benevolent donor. I passed the request to one of the JYs and within an hour they traced one such a youth who was willing to donate his blood that midnight. It was about 11.30 p.m. when I directed him to the hospital. Due to the long hospital procedures he came back home only after the midnight Mass and all the celebrations. I felt sorry and called him up in the morning; but his answer was quite edifying. He said: “Thank you Father, for today I can really celebrate Christmas. The family had knocked all possible doors before they called you up because the blood group was rare. My reaching at the hospital last midnight was like ‘God with them’.”

Christmas is an experience of the ‘God with us’ (Immanuel). Advent is a time of waiting in preparation for His coming. We await and prepare for the experience of ‘God with us’. This experience is possible at any time, provided that I am prepared and ready. And so, whenever I experience this ‘God with us’, it is Christmas. The experience of ‘God with us’ almost always should leave us with a new conviction, change of attitude, perception, etc. At Christmas the shepherds experienced ‘God with us’ and they were filled with hope and joy. Once the three kings experienced the ‘God with us’ they returned home ‘another way’. They could never be the same persons again. The old Simeon saw the Immanuel and he felt that he can now go ‘home’ in peace. This is what the birth of Jesus (‘God with us’) did in the lives of some people. As we prepare for Christmas this is what exactly has to happen in our lives too.

Christ can’t be born again as it happened two thousand years ago. But the experience of ‘Immanuel’ is possible even today for anyone who is open to conversion. I believe this is what we celebrate in Christmas – our experience of the Immanuel (‘God with us’). Void of such an experience Christmas has no relevance and meaning.

Not only at his birth but also all through his life Christ brought this experience to whomever He came across. That was the Good News he brought, that was the Kingdom of God he established thru his message and his very person. The blind man experienced ‘God with us’ when Jesus brought sight into his life. The widow of Nain experienced ‘God with us’ when her only son was brought back to life. Zaccheaus could never be the same after his experience of ‘God with us’. What about me? Mary Magdalene becomes an evangelizer after her experience of ‘God with us’. After more than 12 years having wasted all her wealth, the woman with bleeding experiences the ‘God with us' just because she believed and touched on the fringe of Jesus’ cloak. For Peter who denied his Master, just a glance of the Master was sufficient to lead him to conversion. Saul had such an experience of the ‘God with us’ that turned him to be the zealous missionary in St. Paul … Down the centuries thousands and thousands of men and women in the Church had similar experiences of the ‘God with us’, which turned them to be the holy men and women in the Church. If there are hundreds of Institutes of Consecrated life (Religious Orders, Congregations …) and Lay Movements in the Church with their own particular charism, they all loudly speak of the variety of ways in which their founding/pioneering fathers and mothers experienced the ‘God with us’. Certainly, such an experience led them to make a radical response.

Each Christmas is a reminder to experience the ‘God with us’ in our daily lives and let others experience this ‘God with us’ in and thru us. In the absence of such experiences Christmas becomes a very secular celebration which has nothing to do with my life. This is all the more relevant and significant for us as the Church is focusing on the Mission and the New Evangelization during these years. Remember our post-jubilee slogan: ‘Every Jesus Youth is a Missionary’.

Let these four weeks of preparation thru the season of Advent be a time for us to experience ‘God with us’ and make this an experience for my brother and sister too.

Action Plan:

How can I experience ‘God with us’ in my daily life?

First Week of Advent: Focus on experiencing ‘God with us’ in my personal life

Through regular personal prayer, Word of God, Sacraments, …

Second Week: Focus on sharing this ‘God with us’ experience

In my fellowship groups, prayer meetings, cell group, …
If I am not part of these, I make it a point to be part of these.

Third Week: Focus on prayerfully preparing to become ‘God with us’

Prayerfully discern which are the areas and situations where Jesus expects me to be His presence (‘God with us’) – in my family, school, college, work place, parish, etc.
Prayerfully prepare for a couple of concrete actions on the basis of your discernment

Fourth Week: Focus on becoming ‘God with us’

Through the concrete actions I have discerned, help someone experience ‘God with us’
- By sharing my resources (talents, time, material goods, etc.)
- Become part of the JY Outreach Child Support Project

WISH YOU ALL A FRUTIFUL ADVENT SEASON AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH ABUNDANCE OF EXPERIENCES OF ‘GOD WITH US’!

“Esta es la juventud del Papa” (This is the youth of the Pope). Echoing throughout Madrid, this chant was a constant reminder to all those present for miles around that World Youth Day had indeed descended on Spain. Here was the testament that what Pope John Paul II had initiated in the mid 80s was now a vibrant youth gathering. Between 15th & 21st August 2011 the city came alive with nearly 2 million enthusiastic pilgrims from 193 nations converging to sing, dance, pray, reflect and above all, celebrate their Catholic faith, making it the 3rd most attended World Youth Day (after Manila in 1995 and Rome in 2000).

The Jesus Youth Family Ministry is starting an initiative to build Communities of Christian Families who will help each other be rooted in Christ and bring back the vibrancy of the first Christians into their local parishes.

This initiative aims to create a platform for families in Bangalore to connect with each other, build fellowship, become a mutual support system, grow deeper in faith, reach out to others and become active members of the local parishes.

Dear Missionaries of Christ,

I am very happy to greet the joyful missionaries of the Jesus Youth Campus Ministry in India. Our Lord is great. We were blessed to experience His love and providence in a special way during the Jubilee Year, especially during the Jubilee Conference. The Conference was surely nothing but a miracle. For me personally, the conference was a time of formation - a powerful time of learning to trust the Lord completely and blindly. Philippians 4: 13 has touched and inspired me many times during the last 20 years of my involvement in Jesus Youth. The Conference once again re-affirmed to me as well as many other JY leaders that I could “do all things through Him who strengthens me”. I am certain that you too have had many experiences in your daily lives regarding this conviction. So please do continue your life with this ‘blind trust’ in God.

Jesus Youth is a move of the Spirit through the ordinary lives of young people. Our movement is the work of the Holy Spirit. At each time and stage the Spirit of God has built and led our movement in a powerful way and in the correct direction. So after the Conference and the Leaders’ Colloquium, the Holy Spirit has prompted the right focus and direction for the future; for the movement as well as for every Jesus Youth. This core focus which evolved through the conference is that ‘Every Jesus Youth is a Missionary’ and is being called to live a missionary life.

As a result, the whole movement is focusing strongly on mission right now. And so, each Jesus Youth must take mission as his or her own personal focus and responsibility. Every Jesus Youth must identify or be more active in their personal mission. For more clarity I urge you to read the reflection ‘Looking Beyond the Jubilee’ prepared by Manoj Sunny, the former International Co-ordinator. We as leaders have to do our best to ensure that this reflection reaches the grass root level of the movement. I hope, the campus ministry at the various levels will encourage personal initiatives and new missions. Through these, we can contribute in whatever way possible to the plans of the Mother Church in her missions. I pray that this will be an effective time of growth and new missions in the campus ministry.

Nurses Meet - The Call 2010 - Report

Dear Family,
This is a very brief update / report on the Bangalore Nurses Meet –“THE CALL” that was organized at the DVK Auditorium, Christ University Campus, Bangalore, from 12th June 2010, 8:30 am to 13th June 2010,5:30 pm.

The Spirit of the Lord was in move all throughout the meet and we believe the participants got a better understanding of their life as a whole, of their profession - nursing and about “THE CALL” in their life. About 470 participants from 20 colleges attended the meet. The presence of priests, nuns, other religious, parents, JY Leaders, JY Elders, etcetera was a blessing during the meet. The full time presence of Fr.Tomy - animator of the Bangalore JY Nurses ministry, Fr James MCBS -animator of the Karnataka JY Nurses Ministry and other priests was of great support and help to the program team.

Efforts with regard to intercessions and prayers, the prominent reason behind the success of the program, had started about 60 days before the program. I take this opportunity to specially thank Shelu for coordinating the intercessions and all the members of the intercession team.

Food was not bought from outside, but cooked on premises and this points to the excellent effort and hard-work put by the Food Team of the program, headed by Mr Praful, Mr Liju (2009 Blore full timer), Dijil and all team members. They worked 24hours starting from Friday evening, without sleep or rest. I take this opportunity to specially thank all the members of the food team and pray to God to reward them abundantly.

The campus team and the attendees of the recent DTP program put in a great effort to support the various activities. I thank them and the Teens Ministry members for the efforts put in for the success of this meet.I thank the decoration team coordinated by Mr.Jomy from Kanjirapally and Lloyd of the campus ministry for their hard work.

A special thanks for Mr. Abishek (National coordinator),Mr.Joby (Previous Nurses National coordinator) and Mr.Renish for supporting us and helping us with their valuable suggestions and above all for their presence and prayers.

The Music Team did a marvelous work not only by leading the participants to wonderful moments of praise and worship, but also by writing, composing and tuning a fresh theme song, exclusively for the program, which was very relevant and meaningful with respect to the nursing profession. I take this opportunity to thank Jomichan, Alphonsa, Dayana, Senofer, Rinto, Manu, Rindo, Hanson , Hashish, Anila, Aashish,Franklyn and all others for the wonderful music that they played.Special thanks to Mr.Shine and family for guiding the music team. The Audio Visual ministry did a great job, preparing well by practicing the action
songs, etc. for about a month to teach new action songs to the participants. I thank them all, from the bottom of my heart.

I specially thank Mr.Dino (JY Pro life Coordinator & Bangalore,Service Team Member) for educating the nurses how they can be a prolifer in their profession.
I thank the local arrangements team (Eldhose, Blesson, Sanju, Thomas,Shibin & others ) the accommodation team (Sabish and all campus ministry members), the liturgy team (Prince and all teens ministry members ),Media ministry (Jino,Patrick,Benny,Jorgey ), Registration Team (Miss Nisha) and all the volunteers for all the help and help that they extended.

A special note of appreciation to Bangalore professionals team members and family group members(Mr.Rinu,Mr.Roshan & Mr.Jude) for supporting the Nurses Meet financially.

I thank Miss Reejamol, the coordinator of the whole program, Mr.Thomson, the Bangalore Coordinator, Mr. Frijo (KJYT), Mr.Vinod (ElderKarnataka Nurses), Dr Joe Bangalore nurses elder, Tijo (KJYT) & Ms.Alphonsa for the excellent support all through the program.

Thanks to everyone for the support you have given for the nurses meet through your prayers.

Please see below for a detailed write up of the Prolife Exhibition conducted at St.Anthony`s Friary church Madiwala on May 8th and 9th .

As a part of Days Of Grace intercession happening at St.Antony`s friary till Pentecost, Bangalore JY service team decided to celebrate each week with a special theme and the week commencing from May 3rd was selected to proclaim the "GOSPEL OF THE LIFE".Prolife ministry Bangalore took responsibility of this week to conduct an exhibition on Sunday 9th May 2010. This was the first foot step to CELEBRATE LIFE SUNDAY.

Our initial plan was to conduct one normal exhibition and close the chapter. But discussions with prolife National team coordinator Anuraj gave wings to dream an excellent large scale prolife Sunday. After a month of discussions just a week before suggested Sunday some kind of confusions came up whether to invest such a huge amount of money in an exhibition like this.Then as usual during confusions in decision making we asked confirmation from JESUS through our Elder Joy Kottaram. Jesus gave us a full green light for a large scale exhibition also gave us a small warning to keep control of the Finances for this large scale exhibition. Now that we have got a green signal from Jesus and hardly a week remaining for the Exhibition Sunday and no proper arrangements done we had to rush. .
Luke 18:27: "Jesus said, "What is impossible for human beings is possible for God."
With strong trust in our master JESUS we started full-fledged intercessions with fasting commitments throughout the week, HOLY ROSARY`s ,offering HOLY MASS etc also we passed the prayer request to prolifers around Karnataka and number of HOLY ROSARY`s were offered and the fruits began to shower .God blessed us with highly talented 5 JY's from Kerala, and the parish was fully opened to us as we got permission to work day and night .
We started our works on Wednesday morning and some new ideas came up, we go support from a professional JY designer who is aboard. JY`s from all ministries were available for exhibition, nurses ministry gave a big support in mobilization and also during the exhibition. The Bangalore Service Team gave us full support lead by its coordinator Thomson who was there with us day in and day out helping and guiding us in a every possible way.
In the interim the Parish requested us to start the exhibition on Saturday itself as there will be a Saturday evening (Sunday HOLY MASS) which will be attended by many. We have mobilized this program across Bangalore in different ways and also through the news paper media. We were not yet finished with the arrangement but had to rush and put up an incomplete stall just before the end of Saturday evening HOLY MASS. The Exhibition was inaugurated and blessed by Rev. Fr.Babu (Provincial of Friars in India). We were blessed with Dr.Arun (Kerala JY Prolife coordinator) who came to help us .
The exhibition started with lots of confusions and power failure which resulted in Video`s not been able to be displayed and lack of light inside the stalls. People came saw through and went out but we were not satisfied. That day night Anuraj and team and the members of Bangalore Prolife struggled through the whole night and by the GRACE OF JESUS after a whole nights work they managed to arrange and complete the stalls just before the end of first morning mass on Sunday 9th May. Early in the morning we were also blessed with the help of the Youth Night Vigil team from RRC who came and helped us after the end of the Saturday night vigil.
The first mass got over and the crowd came in and went out through the exhibition stalls but something was missing and some of us were depressed as there was no perfection and some issues here and there. During this time we have send in people for intercession and by this time the second HOLY MASS was over and THIS was the moment when the Exhibition really started in a full-fledged manner. The priests of St.Antony’s celebrated the HOLY MASS completed with the theme of Prolife and we even had Fr.Sandesh (Asst Parish Priest) who took a real fetal specimen and showed during the HOLY MASS to all who attended the mass.
The crowds after all the MASS were standing in a long queue to enter the Exhibition stall.
There were a large number of people who came in and viewed the entire exhibition and were blessed to receive the message for life. There were some who even showed desire to join to the JY Prolife team to work and protect life. Prayer cards and Pamphlets were distributed to all and also we got the feedback forms filled from almost all the participants who came there. We also had pretty good sales on Prolife related books, Posters and DVD`s.
Now to tell in detail what were the contents of the Exhibition lets go through the write up given by Joma who just came to help us during the exhibition.

May be a week before, my cousin Anila (JYNPT) invited me for an exhibition at St. Anthony’s Friary Church, Madiwala. Not knowing the impact or the importance, I decided to pay a visit to the place.

Early morning after the mass on 7th May the exhibition started. With a confused state of mind I joined some young zealous and energetic prolifers in their mission to spread the message. There were all together 7 stalls depicting how precious is the life we are gifted with and how we often take it for granted.

I decided to have a look at the stalls before taking a position. As I was about to enter I saw a model displaying a womb with a new life nurturing inside. There were two hands supporting the existence of that new formation - of a mother’s hand from below and our Lord’s hand from above. Admiring the theme I went inside. As I entered my eyes got caught on a cobweb. And on it were anti-prolife agents placed. A cobweb is formed when human life activity reduces in a particular area.

Now the poster presentations started bringing into light the factors which poison our lives without us knowing how deadly there impact can be. All the themes in the poster were supported by the “Word of GOD” which authenticated the subjects. Alongside the posters were the models portraying the various biological stages of a new life right from inception .

In between the poster presentations, there were two counters, one displaying a “Touch of life Fetal Models” and the others displaying the” Original Fetuses”. Through the touch of life fetuses, they were trying to make you realize how you were inside the mother’s womb – tiny, helpless but equally beautiful. Then the counter came where people spent most of the time looking at the display – “original fetuses which ones had life in them. Each fetus displaying the growth stage inside the mother’s womb . It started from a fetus with just 6 weeks maturity and ended up displaying a full-fledged, full term unborn baby. Another counter displayed beautifully the dream world of Angels Army for Kids. The stall offered attractive books and other materials on Angels’ Army.

After going through all these, I took a place where in I could comfortably sit and be a part of the exhibition without moving around and convincing people to stand against the threats to life. And this was the stall where the real life specimens were kept. I thought these specimens were self explanatory and on top of it, there was a volunteer who was actively explaining the details and urging people to stand for life. For quite a long time I was listening to the friend of mine whom I was assisting. Gradually I realised why this fellow volunteer was zealously trying to make others understand to stop abortion.

The realisation was in fact slow, but yes it did seep in. Those tiny human forms were lacking nothing which we had except speech. They were as human as we are. It’s just that we can’t see them and hear them. Had they been given a chance to live, they would have looked as beautiful as any other beautiful creation of God. God made woman in such a way that she could help a life to sustain within her for nine months. But Alas! The mother herself for known or unknown reasons, allowed her womb to be subjected to a cruel murder. They couldn’t speak or fight to protect themselves. So it is our call to fight for those lives which cannot stand for it. You may not get paid for standing for life in worldly manner but our Lord will be delighted at your birth on this earth.

So here I say, ‘Let’s be the voice of the voiceless and stand for “Life “the most precious gift from God.

Finally we ended up after the last HOLY MASS on Sunday around 8pm with a prayer and burning the displayed items of culture of death. This was really a day grace for all of us. The entire exhibition was a great blessing and this will open doors for Prolife in Bangalore in many different and positive ways.Special thanks JYNPT coordinator Anuraj who made this dream come true for Bangalore JY Prolife Team , Anuraj was working continuously for many days without even a proper sleep . Also thanks to the 5 members team who came to Bangalore from Kerala to help us . Thanks to one and all who helped us to make this dream come true .

It is with great joy that the organizers and participants await ‘Bangalore Nurses Meet 2010’. It is a project initiated by the Jesus Youth Nurses Ministry in Bangalore. Reach'10 Report

A summer programme for teens – REACH ’10 - was organized by the Bangalore Teens ministry from 6th to 9th May in Carmel Convent School, Bangalore. The theme of the program was ‘Extend your Boundaries’. The programme was attended by 68 teens from different schools and parishes of Bangalore. Below is a brief write-up on the same by Cini Mathew who was part of the programme team for REACH '10.

One week before REACH ‘10 was about to start, nothing was in place; mobilization was not done, pamphlets were not printed, resources were not finalised. Nothing seemed to be in place, but still each member of the teens team had their hope on the Lord. REACH started on Thursday 4:30 pm with the registration. On 1st of May, not even 1 person was confirmed and on 6th May we had 68 participants registered. The first day just passed by, with no one really seeming to be interested.

The second day started with lots of confusion and lots of tension, but still no one lost hope. Amidst all these confusion, Lord showed His mercy upon each one of us. The session on God's love (which was the first session) was liked by all. Then was an activity where the teens themselves prepared and presented skit. Each team presented a skit, and it was well accepted by all. Then was the time of some game and enjoyment with paper dressing. After all this masti was the session and workshop on Confidence Building, which gave the teens an insight on how they could do great things with the help of Lord. After this, the teens attended a session and video presentation on Teen Saints followed by a session on Mother Mary which was taken by Deril (he is now doing his 1st yr BCA). The session was so well accepted by the teens that one of them even said “I want to be like this brother (Deril), when I grow up". It was followed by the Adoration taken by Br.George. It was such a beautiful time of Adoration that every participant felt the touch of Lord; they all said that they were able to feel the love of Christ.

The third day started well with God's grace, with a beautiful time of Praise and Worship, then moving on to Sin and Temptation, the session taken by Teena, followed by a session on Prolife. Then there was a session on 10 commandments taken by Jithin, and then was the time of confession. Many participants said that they were able to make a very good confession. They were able to open up their hearts after a long time and were so much relaxed. After the confession and Holy Mass, the teens attended a session on Holy Spirit, handled by Br.George. This was the day when God's grace and mercy was even more evident. Until 5:00 we were lagging behind by 1 hr, but by the end of the day all the session were over by 8:30 and we had time to even celebrate a teen's birthday and then clean the entire hall and go to sleep by 11:00. Such was the mercy of our Lord. He never left alone anyone of us, be it volunteers or teens. He kept each one of us in His care. The Inner healing session on that day was made more beautiful by the beautiful decoration done by the audio visual ministry and lead by Jithin.

The fourth day, we saw all the participants jumping around with joy after the anointing of the Holy Spirit lead by Jose Sebastian. Many volunteers, who were asked to lay their hands on the teens and pray, themselves felt the power of the Spirit flowing through their body. The anointing worship was followed by a session on the Word of God. Then there was an activity where the teens were asked to publish a newspaper on their past three days at the Camp. The response was awesome. Lord gave the grace that each and every teenager, all the 68 participants were involved in making the newspaper for their group. Total 6 papers were published, all with different names and unique creative ideas. At the end of the day, the parents also gathered to bless their children, they joined us for mass, lunch and then for a session on family values.

Over all it was a beautiful experience for each one part of the program, be it the volunteer or the participant. The Music ministry gave a very lively ending to the programme with very good action songs. The song "Chik Chik Chang" written and composed by Becky of Chennai was liked by all the participants and their parents. The Audio Visual ministry made the programme more colourful with meaningful skits in between sessions. The best thing was that, all the big resources were listed for the program, but everyone was busy at that time, so everyone part of team became the resources. The testimonies shared by the leaders of the Bangalore teens team was most inspiring. There was one girl Maria who was a participant of Philia'09. She gave testimonies that made each one to stand in awe of our Lord. His mercies never cease. She gave 3-4 testimonies without preparing. Lord Jesus was merciful on each one of us.

I would like to end this write-up by telling the line that Tulip got while she was preparing for MC - "God does not choose the qualified, but qualifies the chosen". It was indeed true in case of everyone part of REACH '10. He moulded and used each one of us. Glory and Praise be to our great and mighty Lord. His mercies never cease. So much of joy is there in my heart right now as I write this. Praise the Lord forever. Please continue praying for each participant of REACH and Chalo. The participants of both the programs touched all of our heart so much, that their love is still fresh in our hearts and mind.

Days of Grace in Bangalore

April 5– May 23, 2010

2010 is a very special year of Grace for Jesus Youth movement. It is the year when the movement celebrates the Jubilee, 25 years since the inception of the movement. A year to look back and thank the Lord for the long years of guidance and protection that He has been providing the entire movement. To make this season of Pentecost in the Jubilee year of the movement more unique and grace-filled, Jesus Youth Bangalore plans an itinerary of prayerful initiatives. These prayer initiatives are meant to give an impetus to the members in the movement to rise above their normal call and lift themselves, their neighbors and the entire city of Bangalore to a prayerful new high.

We plan to start these initiatives in different parts of Bangalore (like Whitefield, Bannerghatta areas) but the central adoration centre will be at St.Anthony’s Friary Parish. Through this initiative we also desire to make a dynamic contribution to the parish in her mission and call.

These adorations are inspired and in lines of the one’s we started across the globe and different parts of India.The Adoration in Centro San Lorenzo, the Int'l Youth Centre at Vatican from February 17th (Ash Wednesday) to April 4th (Easter Sunday) continues to receive an overwhelming response from various Bishops, Priests, Religious& the laity around the globe. Our prayer campaign leading up to our Pentecost day (May 23) will begin on April 5^th (day after Easter) taking us through 7 weeks of prayer monsoon. All live updates will be posted on this blog.

WHY ARE WE HAVING SUCH AN INITIATIVE?

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Phil 4:6)

The whole movement is going through a phase of purification and renewal this year. Also as the verse says, this year being a year of special Grace is the right time to intercede and pray for our needs. The main intentions that we will be lifting up in prayer:

Priests & the Vocations to PriestHood
True Spirit of Metanoia to each member of the Parish Family
Needs of Catholic Church in Bangalore & Karnataka
Franciscan Fathers & all the Missionaries of the Church
Jesus Youth Movement

We ask the Lord to strengthen our movement and each one of us to respond to our call for mission with zeal and commitment. We also pray for the intentions of the Holy Father and to strengthen the Holy Catholic Church through more vocations, especially during this year of Priests.

HOW WILL THIS INITIATIVE BE PUT TO ACTION?

When: We will have the adoration which is the central initiative from April 5th (Easter Monday) to May 23rd (Day of Pentecost) everyday from 8am to 8pm.

Venue: St.Anthony’s Friary Church, Hosur Road, Koramangala, Bangalore-29

The basic structure for these 50 days:

Each day will be divided into 3 slots -- 8am-12pm, 12pm -4pm and 4pm-8pm. There will be a minimum of two people at any given time for the adoration.

We will have mission volunteers who will take 1 month commitments for this adoration. We will also have weekend, Sunday or weekday volunteers as well.

We will also promote and encourage people during their lunch breaks (spiritual lunch break), before work or after, before class or after, in their free times to walk-in to the adoration centre and join together in prayer.

Fast and pray slots (pray from office, class or home). Join the adoration virtually in case you can’t make it on a particular day.

As mentioned above these mission volunteers will be available throughout these 50 days to coordinate the smooth functioning of the adoration. These volunteers will be managing the office, communications and will also be looking into the materials needed at the adoration centre. These volunteers will also collect all the prayer requests via SMS which people will send out.

In addition to the daily adoration we will be having other initiatives in the parish in connection with the weekly themes (on weekends):

Jesus Youth is an international Catholic youth movement with a Charismatic spirituality. It had its beginnings in Kerala (India), but is now active in many different countries throughout the world. Jesus Youth is an initiative of young people themselves, who, filled with the Holy Spirit try to reach out toother young people. The strength of the movement is its special focus on a life centred on the Lord Jesus Christ; beginning with an experience of God, nourished by prayer, the Word of God, the sacraments and fellowship, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. Though not an actual community, Jesus Youth is a network of small but vibrant groups of young people. Christmas - i dont need anymore gifts, i got one!

Well i am glad that i am blogging after a long time.The last time i wrote , well i clearly remember was on my birthday.This time i am writing also on a birthday , a belated b'day of soughts a globally celebrated b'day called Christmas.Many kids may assume that Christmas is the B'day of one mister Santa Claus who loves giving gifts than taking , what a noble fellow;How rare to find people who like to give than take on such wonderful occasions. The world today is one which prefers the equation (amount received > amount paid).I clearly remember parties(bday,marriage..etc) where the host are busy looking at the gifts we bring and inwardly calculating the profit they acquired by inviting us to the party ,not a noble thought i must say.Well coming back to Santa - this question arised in my mind, who is He? .In my search for the truth I went through few books and the santa story was quite simple.'Myra' christians hid gifts under the pillows of their kids on the night before the feast of one holy person called St.Nicholas and this person through centuries became the saw called 'Santa Claus'.Look how time has changed our perception, now we know who Santa Claus is but not the real person behind him thats Bishop St.Nicholas .Whats up with few saints they are always given different shades , do u remember one mister St.Valentine, poor chap who is a victim of Hallmark & Archies marketing.The bottom line is this , u may believe Santa exists(like millions of children around the world) or you may not (few like me) but the hope he brings is amazing.Hope of giving to the needy,hope of feeding the hungry,hope of clothing the naked - very much what Christ Jesus himself proclamied during his walk on earth(Jesus Said : "The least you do to a brother of yours ,you do it to me").Every one receives during Christmas, even if Mr.Santa has not given you anything in person you have received so much during this Christmas, remember the song we sang "Joy to the world the Lord has born let earth recieve thy King" .We have recieved the king of peace during this Christmas and having received the greatest gift called Peace from God we must be more than ever willing to share this across with the needy, i mean people who need peace.Next question -who are the needy ? well almost everyone, the muslim brothers on the street who wish each other peace (asallam vallikum....vallikum asallam) , the hindu brother who prays 'asathoma sadh gamaya tamasoma jyothir gamaya ...om shanthi shanthi..shanthi...., the christian brethren who wish the peace of christ with each other, or the rest in the world who unfortunately spell peace wrongly and call it world 'Piece' .Look everyone needs it some spell it correctly others dont. Christmas is more about giving than receiving. Christmas is more about peace than piece. Christmas is more about Christ than Santa. Christmas is more about YOU than me.

About Taizé
A “parable of community”
Today, the Taizé Community is made up of over a hundred brothers, Catholics and from various Protestant backgrounds, coming from around thirty nations. By its very existence, the community is a “parable of community” that wants its life to be a sign of reconciliation between divided Christians and between separated peoples.
The brothers of the community live solely by their work. They do not accept donations. In the same way, they do not accept personal inheritances for themselves; the community gives them to the very poor.
Certain brothers live in some of the disadvantaged places in the world, to bewitnesses of peace there, alongside people who are suffering. These small groups of brothers, in Asia, Africa and South America, share the living conditions of thepeople around them. They strive to be a presence of love among the very poor, street children, prisoners, the dying, and those who are wounded by broken relationships, or who have been abandoned.
Over the years, young adults have been coming to Taizé in ever greater numbers; they come from every continent to take part in weekly meetings. Sisters of Saint Andrew, an international Catholic community founded seven centuries ago, Polish Ursuline Sisters and Sisters of St Vincent de Paul take on some of the tasks involved in welcoming the young people.
Church leaders also come to Taizé. The community has thus welcomed Pope John Paul II, three Archbishops of Canterbury, Orthodox metropolitans, the fourteen Lutheran bishops of Sweden, and countless pastors from all over the world.
From 1962 on, brothers and young people sent by Taizé went back and forth continually to the countries of Eastern Europe, with great discretion, to visit those who were confined within their frontiers.
Brother Roger died on 16 August 2005, at the age of 90, killed during the evening prayer. Since then, Brother Alois, whom Brother Roger chose as his successor many years ago, has been the prior of the Community.
